The American Colombo is a flower, also known as Monument plant because they are very tall in size. They grow in meadows, limestone and soil. The color they are is a green-yellow. For the flowers to fully bloom it takes them 3 years. The plant is nontoxic. The basal leaves are up to 6 to 9 feet tall. The American Colombo is endangered, which means that the plant is almost extinct and there are only a few of them left. If you see one don’t hurt it. It grows in a wide range and it takes up to seven years just to grow a spike out of the plant! The great American Colombo is very smooth and is an impressive sight when seen. They have several whorls of leaves and a great number of limbs. They usually grow in areas around oak trees. So keep an eye out for them while you are on the trail.
