Caesar Creek Trail Guide
In the 1970’s, Caesar Creek Dam Spillway was built across Caesar Creek to form the reservoir (a reservoir is a place that stores water), a spillway was carved into the land to serve as an emergency overflow for the lake. It created exposed treasure of Ordovician fossils. Ordovician time period was 1.5 million years ago and the fossils they found were far more different than the fossils in that era so they decided to make a different name for those fossils which they called Ordovician fossils. Some of the fossils found were crinoids, bryozoans, brachiopods, horned corals, and even trilobites.
